Race order · interval to leader

Four AI opponents run the same physics. Following within ~30 m gives a tow (up to 35% less drag) but dirty air (up to 25% less downforce); cars collide as rigid footprints. Illustrative values.

ERS: the MGU-K adds up to 120 kW on the throttle above 100 km/h, at most 4 MJ a lap from a 4 MJ store; braking harvests up to 120 kW (2 MJ a lap) and the MGU-H recharges the store from the exhaust. Illustrative values.

Brake

Keyboard pedals ramp in ~0.17 s and release in 0.1 s; keyboard steering moves toward lock at 3/s and returns at 5/s. Gamepad (standard layout): triggers are analog pedals, left stick steers with a deadzone and progressive curve. Steering authority falls with speed for both.

Tire force / peak grip

FL / FR / RL / RR · normal load in kN.
Bars: force / peak capacity, not remaining grip. SLIDE: combined demand beyond the illustrative force peak; force falls toward 75% of peak. Slip: signed longitudinal slip; + is wheelspin when moving forward. LOCK: stopped wheel above 1 m/s. α: force-producing (relaxed) / kinematic slip angle; the carcass catches up over 0.45 m of travel. Temp: tread / carcass °C · thermal grip (blue cold, green near the 100 °C optimum, red hot); sliding heats the tread, airflow cools it. Wear: tread used · wear grip; sliding energy wears the tread (faster above the optimum), grip fades then falls off a cliff past 75% wear (amber above 37.5%, red above 75%); reset (R) fits new tires. No ABS or traction control.

W / ↑ Throttle
S / ↓ Brake
Reverse: stopped, hold the brake (S / LT) and the car backs up; reversing, W / RT brakes and, once stopped, goes forward again. Or hold Q (reverse) / E (forward) while stopped on the brake, off throttle
A D / ← → Steer
X / Z Shift up / down (gamepad RB / LB, once the race is on): switches to the manual gearbox (M beside the gear; the gear flashes red when a shift is refused); G (gamepad left stick click) back to automatic
F DRS (hold; gamepad right stick click). Races: from lap 2, in a DRS zone after being within 1 s of the car ahead at its detection point; braking closes it. Open, it cuts drag 12% and downforce 10% (rear only; illustrative)

C Cockpit / chase camera
P Autopilot on / off
M Sound on / off
O Opponents on / off (restarts)
B Pit request: box for Soft → Medium → Hard → cancel. On autopilot the car pits at the next entry; driving, take the pit lane on the inside of the main straight (on a real circuit: beside the start/finish straight, entry ~300 m before the line) (80 km/h limiter, +5 s for speeding) and stop on your box (first, green)
Start: hold still on the five red lights, go when they go out (moving early: +5 s). On the lights, 1–5 (gamepad LB / RB: one ahead / behind) puts you in the car on that grid position (1 = pole) and takes you off the autopilot; that car takes your slot
Race: 10 laps (?laps=N in the URL); penalties are added at the flag; every finisher must have run two compounds (one stop) or is disqualified. Start tyre: ?tyre=soft|medium|hard. Each car starts with the fuel for the race distance (no refuelling); it burns off, so the car gets lighter
Gamepad: touch any button or stick to take control from the autopilot · RT throttle · LT brake (or right stick forward / back, or D-pad up / down) · left stick or D-pad steer · X pause / resume · Menu (Start, ≡) HUD on / off · B cockpit / chase · Y full screen · A units · Back (View) reset car · right stick click autopilot off

Illustrative, uncalibrated dynamics. Body roll, pitch and aero squat are damped spring modes for display; wheel loads are still quasi-static. Surface grip (assumed): kerb 90%, runoff 70%, grass 35%. Walls are rigid: the body footprint rebounds with 25% restitution and scrubs with friction 0.5; no damage model. Tires start at 70 °C (blanket temperature) and have a two-node thermal model and tread wear; no pressure or camber yet. Compounds (assumed): soft +1.5% grip and 2× wear, hard −1.5% grip and 0.55× wear relative to the medium; a pit stop fits a new set at blanket temperature after a 2.1–3.2 s service. Sound is synthesized from engine rpm, throttle, turbo spool, tire sliding power and speed (V6 firing frequency; no recorded samples). This is a handling testbed, not a validated F1 simulator.
